Zach's Minion
By Amanda Sadler This hat was inspired by my son Zach's request for a full face minion hat for his birthday. With his help, this hat was created.

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in yellow and black. One 16 inch circular needle and a set of matching double pointed needles. I used a size 7. You need to use the size needle that gives YOU the right gauge.
Brim:
Cast on 80 sts, and join, being careful not to twist. Work in k3, p2 ribbing for 2 inches.
Body of Hat:
Knit around for 2.5 inches. Mouth round 1: K32, bind off 16 sts, k32. Mouth round 2: K32, cast on 16 sts using backward loop cast on, k32. Knit around for 1.75 inches. Eyes round 1: K27, bind off 26 sts, k27. Band of goggles: With black, knit back and forth in garter st for 8 rows, (4 ridges), leaving the 26 bound off eye stitches unknit. Eyes round 2: With yellow, k27, cast on 26 sts using backward loop cast on, k27. You are now knitting in the round again. Knit 4 inches.
Decreasing:
Round 1: \*k6, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (70 sts remaining) Round 2 and all even rounds: Knit around. Round 3: \*k5, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (60 sts remaining) Round 5: \*k4, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (50 sts remaining) Round 7: \*k3, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (40 sts remaining) Round 9: \*k2, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (30 sts remaining) Round 11: \*k1, k2tog, repeat from \* around. (20 sts remaining) Round 12 \*k2tog, repeat from \* around. (10 sts remaining)
Finishing:
Break yarn, thread onto a yarn needle, and draw through all sts. Pull tight and weave in all ends on the wrong side. Using double pointed needles and beginning in the middle of the eyes space with black, pick up 13 sts evenly across the top right side, 4 sts in the side of the black band, 13 sts across the bottom right side, and cast on 4 sts using backwards loop cast on. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 2 rounds, then bind off all sts. Repeat beginning in the middle and working around the left half. Use one of the black ends to sew the middle bands of ribbing together at the bottom of the band. Weave in ends on the wrong side. Using yellow, pick up sts evenly around mouth. Work in kl, p1, ribbing for 1 round, then bind off all sts. Weave in ends on the wrong side.
