NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

2.5mm (US 1.5) DPNs or equivalent needles for your preferred method of working socks in the round

GAUGE/TENSION

28 sts and 38 rows to 4"/10cm in stocking stitch (stockinette).

PATTERN NOTES

These socks are worked from the top down with a ribbed cuff, lace and cable patterned hem, patterned heel flap heel, stocking stitch sole, and plain toe. Instructions are given for the ribbing and Phoenix pattern in the round and these chart rows should always be read from right to left. The heel set up rounds are worked in the round with subtle changes to the Phoenix pattern for the back of the leg. The heel pattern is worked back and forth and instructions are given to work it flat.

TOP TIP

I've included written directions for the pattern for the sake of completeness but for the love of all things woolly I strongly recommend getting to grips with the chart, it will make everything make so much more sense if you can 'see' what you're trying to knit!
