A knitted version of the popular Tassel Necklace. These look so good hanging in a bunch, layer them up and wear a few at once, or make a statement with a single necklace. They can also be twisted around for a bracelet or headband. These necklaces are a terrific way of using your special leftover yarn and make a great gift idea. Switch on your favourite show, sit back, crank out some icord and youll have a Tassel Necklace in no time. Add some beads or use sparkly yarn to glam these up. Included are directions for two styles - loop and lariat. Easily adaptable to suit your style. YARN: icord : 30 yards/27.5 DK/8ply or sport/5ply weight yarn. Samples used: Quince & Co, Chickadee; Kumlien's Gull, Crow and Frost. Madelinetosh DK twist in Charcoal. Tassel: 6 yards/5.5 metres. Dk/8ply, Sport/5ply or fingering/4ply yarn. Samples used: Madelinetosh DK twist; Edison's bulb. Softrope, sock; Wren. Dream in Colour, Smooshy fingering; Melon Bomb. Dyed by Hand yarns, Big Blue Stocking; Tumeric. NEEDLES/NOTIONS: US 5/3.75mm DPN's or short circs, darning needle. Cast on 4 stitches.

icord instructions:

Round 1: Knit. Do not turn. Round 2: Slide the stitches to the other end of your dpn/circular needle. The working yarn will be at the "wrong" end of your work. Pull the working yarn tightly across the back of your work and knit all 4 sts.

Select from the following lengths for your icord: Lariat: Short (blue tassels): 49"/ 124.5cm Long (pink tassels): 70"/ 177.8cm Loop: Short (pink tassel/ black icord): 28"/71.1cm Long (neon tassel): 47"/ 119.4cm Lariat: weave in ends. Loop, weave in the cast on end, thred needle with yarn on the bound off end and use to sew the ends together and form a closed loop. MAKE TASSELS: Make 2 tassels for the Lariat and 1 tassel for the loop necklace.

1: Cut a template out of cardboard or plastic. I have cut a rectangle so that I can make tw ent size tassels. My template measures 2.75"/7cm x 4.25"/11cm Wrap yarn around the template. Wind it overitselfto create multiple layers of wrapped ya Step 3: Cut a piece of yarn and thread through the loop created at one end of the wrapped yarn. Tie to secure the yarn in place, this will also be used to attach the tassel to the icord necklace. Step 4: Cut through the loop at the opposite end. Step 5: Thread a length of yarn onto your darning needle, Wrap yarn around the uncut end. Wind it over itself to create several layers of wrapped yarn, securing the tassel. Step 6: Trim the cut end of your tassel to ensure it is nice and even. ADDYOURTASSELTOYOUR NECKLACE. at: Thread one of the tassel threads and sew onto the end of the icord. Repeat with the 2n tassel thread. Repeat with the other tassel and other icord end.

Loop: Wrap the 2 threads around the back of the icord and through the centre of the tassel loop. Repeat. Thread one end on the needle and sew it into the icord to keep it in place and hide the end. Repeat for the second thread end.
