PATTERN NOTES
Finished Size: Adult This scarf is made of two identical pieces that are then seamed together with a 3-needle bind off. Knowing how to do a lace cast on will make adding fringe much easier, but isn't a requirement. Before you begin knitting, you should cut 13 strands measuring 8" from each skein (total of 26 strands). These strands will be the fringe added at the end of the pattern. The photos show the scarf without being blocked. The edges did curl under a bit, something that happens when you don't add a border to half-linen stitch. The written pattern includes a border to fix that issue.
PATTERN
\*Make 2\* CO 26 stitches (C0 27 stitches if using lace cast on. The slip knot should be dropped from the needle at the end of the first row resulting in a total of 26 stitches.). If you would like a different width, CO any multiple of 2 stitches, plus 4 stitches for the border. Row 1 (RS): K2; \*K1, wyif, sl 1 as to purl, wyib; rep from \* to last 2 st, K2. Row 2 (WS): K2, purl to last 2 st, K2. Row 3: K2; \*wyif, sl 1 as to purl, wyib, K1; rep from \* to last 2 st, K2. Row 4: K2, purl to last 2 st, K2. Repeat rows 1-4 to desired length of scarf half, being sure to leave enough yarn at the end for the 3-needle bind off. When finished with the first half, keep the stitches live on the needle and knit the second half with the other two needles. When the two halves are finished, put them together RS facing each other and proceed with the 3-needle bind off. Weave in ends. To tie on fringe, have scarf facing RS. Fold a strand in half and feed the loop down through a space left by the cast on. Feed the ends through the loop of the fringe and pull taught. Tie a simple knot on each end of the fringe to prevent fraying. There should be 13 spaces on each end of the scarf.
