Winter Storm Clouds: A Fluffy Textured Scarf Pattern with Variegated Yarns and Mock Rib Texture

WINTER STORM CLOUDS

Pattern illustration

This pattern was designed to create a fluffy and squishy textured scarf that can be wrapped at least twice and still drape to the hips. I combined several stitch and design elements to show off variegated yarns in a way to prevent pooling, but the scarf looks equally good with a solid or semi-solid yarn. Depending on the chosen yarn, the mock rib texture can be emphasized or blended. Size can be increased or decreased by varying the stitch count by sets of 3 in EVEN amounts (i.e., 24, 30, 36, 42, 48 stitches). To make stole/wrap size, cast on 78, 84, or 90 stitches to desired width. Needles: US 4(3.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm) Tapestry needle Yarn: Cascade Yarns Eco Duo Saffron Dyeworks Buddha Worsted Saffron Dyeworks Pali Sport Finished Size: Large in Cascade Yarns Eco Duo - still in progress. Small in Saffron Dyeworks Pali Sport - 69" (175cm) long by 4" (10.5cm) f cast on 48(60) stitches using cabled cast on with size US 8 needl Rows 1-8 (Mock Rib): (k2, p1)\* repeat across row. Cast off loosely in mock rib pattern (i.e., k2, slip previous knit stitch over last knit stitch to bind off, p1, slip previous stitch over to bind off, k1, slip previous stitch over to bind off, k1, slip previous stitch over to bind off, p1...). Repeat across row until all stitches are bound off. Weave in ends. Wear and enjoy!
