Borealis Cowl and Flower Headband

Yarn: 2 skeins Berroco Borealis Bulky Weight Yarn- color 5099

Hook: L

Note: I used the Sedge Stitch HI pattern from Basic Crochet Stitches by Erika Knight (Interweave Press) for my inspiration.

Finished Size:

Cowl: 6.5"' x 26" Headband: 3.5" x 22"" Cowl: Ch 21 (For Headband, ch 13) Row 1: Skip 2ch (counts as 1sc), 2dc in next ch, \*skip 2ch, [1sc, 2dc] in next ch; rep from \* to last 3ch, skip 2ch, 1 sc in last ch, turn. Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as 1sc), 2 dc in first st, \* skip 2dc, [1sc, 2dc] in next sc; rep from \* to last 3 sts, skip 2dc, 1 sc in top of tch, turn. Repeat row 2 until cowl or headband measures desired length, leaving a long tail for whip stitching cowl closed.

Flower:

Ch 6. Join with sl st in first ch to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 6 (counts as dc, ch 3), \* 3 dc in ring, ch 3; rep from \* 4 x more, 2 dc in ring, join with sl st -- 6 petals. Rnd 2: Ch 1,\* [1sc, 1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc, 1sc] in ch 3 sp; rep from \*5 x more. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Sew to hairband. Take finger and push petals out from behind as in photo.
