Yarn: 75 (200, 400) yards worsted / aran wt yarn (Adult short and long samples shown in Tanis Fiber Arts Green Label Aran in 'gold' and ‘frost') 18 sts and 22 rows / 4" in stockinette stitch 14 sts and 28 rows / 4" in garter stitch US #8 / 5mm 16 (16, 32) inch circular needle (or as req'd to meet gauge) stitch markers, darning needle
oats cowl construction:
19 (23, 48)" around by 6 (10, 10)" tall pattern: This cowl is knit in the round. Cast on 78 (96, 198) stitches, PM, and join for working in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches. Work in 1x1 rib (k1, p1) for 1 (1.5, 1.5) inches. Setup Round: k26 (32, 66), PM, knit to end Round 1: purl to marker, knit to end Round 2:knit Repeat rounds 1 - 2 until piece measures 5 (8.5, 8.5) inches from cast on. Work in 1x1 rib for 1 (1.5, 1.5) inches. Bind off loosely and weave in your ends. Block and wear happily!
