The Sweatshop of Love A Quartet of Headbands

There is no easier way of incorporating knitting into your daily wardrobe than by throwing on a fun headband. All four of these headbands are fun to knit and easy to complete in an afternoon. So pull out some brightly colored yarn and get knitting! You'll want all four in time for spring. From Top Left to Bottom Right: Three's Company. Deep-Textured Bow. Wrap Bow. Eyelet Headband.
THREE'SCOMPANY
Finished Size Three tiny icords 21 V2" long each.
MATERIALS
Yarn Tiny amounts of leftover sock yarn. I used Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Sock Yarn, 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon. 462 yds/100 g: Queen Anne, Blue Violet, and Golden Glow. Needles 2 Size 3 (3.25 mm) double pointed needles. Notions Tapestry needle. GAUGE Not necessary.
DIRECTIONS
With first color, CO 3 sts. Work in Icord till piece measures 21 1/2", or until 1/2" shorter than head circumference. Cut yarn and secure end. Repeat for two additional colors.
FINISHING
Seam first icord together, joining to make a round. Loop second icord through first icord and join to make round. Loop third icord through first icord and join to make round. Weave in ends.
DEEP-TEXTURED BOW
Finished Size 1 14" wide and 21" long headband with 3" bow.
MATERIALS
Yarn Any DK weight yarn. I used Knit Picks CotLin DK, 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen. 123 yds/50 g: Surf. Needles Size 4 (3.50 mm) needles. Notions Spare size 4 needle, Tapestry needle. GAUGE Not necessary.
SPECIAL STITCHES
SUPPLERIB Row 1 (RS): K1, \*knit the next st but do not slip it off the left-hand needle, then purl the same st and the next st tog, K1; rep from \* to end. Row 2: Purl. Rep these 2 rows for pattern.
DIRECTIONS
CO 10 sts. Work in Supple Rib for 14 1/2". Make Bow (RS): Measure back from working needle 6" and with spare needle PU 10 sts along purl bumps on ws there. Hold these needles side by side and knit 1 st from each needletogether. Purl 1 row. Continue working in Supple Rib for 12 V2" from base of bow. BO.
FINISHING
Seam ends together. With yarn and tapestry needle, attach yarn to wrong side of base of bow. Fold bow loop down so the center of the bow is against seam. Wrap yarn around bow loop three times tightly and secure at back. Weave in ends.
WRAP BOW
Finished Size Icord %" wide and 82" long.
MATERIALS
Yarn Any DK weight yarn. I used Knit Picks CotLin DK, 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen. 123 yds/50 g: Tomato. Needles 2 Size 9 (5.5 mm) double pointed needles. Notions Tapestry needle. GAUGE Not necessary. DIRECTIONS CO 5 sts. Work in icord for 82". Cut yarn and secure end. FINISHING Weave in ends.
EYELET HEADBAND
Finished Size 1" wide and 21" long.
MATERIALS
Yarn Any DK weight yarn. I used Knit Picks CotLin DK, 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen. 123 yds/50 g: Canary. Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm) needles. Notions Tapestry needle.
GAUGE
Not necessary.
NOTE
Stitch count stays at 7 sts except when working Row 2 when it goes down to 6 sts, as noted.
DIRECTIONS
CO 7 sts. Row 1 (WS): SI 1, K1, P3, K2. Row 2 (RS): SI 1 PW, P1, SI 1, K2, PSSO, P2 -6 sts. Row 3: SI 1, K1, P1, YO, P1, K2 - 7 sts. Row 4: SI 1 PW, P1, K3, P2. Row 5: Sl 1, K1, P3, K2. Rep rows 2-5 till piece measures 21", or 1" less than your head circumference, ending with Row5.BO. Seam ends together.
