One skein worsted weight yarn Color: Orange Scrap worsted weight yarn Color: Gray, white, and Black Shown in picture. Caron Simply Soft Eco color: Mango Caron Simply Soft color: Heather Grey, Black, Off-white 1 set of US size 7 circular needles 16 in 1 set of US size 6 circular needles 16 in Set of US size 7 double pointed needles Stitch markers Scrap yarn Crochet hook (for provisional cast on) Tapestry Needle GAUGE Stockinette: 18 sts/ 26 rows $=4$ inches using US size 7 needles.

DIRECTIONS:
Brim of Hat
With US #6 circular needles, crochet hook and scrap yarn, provisionally cast on 84 sts. Switch to orange yarn and begin knitting. Place a stitch marker and join the circle. Work in the round for rows 1-9. Switch to US #7 and Purl Row 10. Then, proceed to knit for Rows 11-19. For Row 20 pickup the provisionally cast on stitches and k2tog with corresponding work stitch to create a nice hemmed brim. Quicker version: Do ten rows of K1, P1, ribbing with US #6 circular needles. Then switch to larger needles and begin base of hat.
Base of Hat
Continue knitting for Rows 21-49. Decrease Crown at Row 50 Note: Switch to US #7 double pointed needles when knitting gets to tight Divide hat into 6 sections of 14 sts each. Place markers. Row 1: K2tog, Knit until 2 stitches remain, ssk for all six sections. (12 sts decrease) Row 2: Knit Repeat Rows 1 and 2 eight more times until 12 sts are left. Last Row: K2tog. 6sts left.
FINISHING
Cut yarn, leaving a 6" tail, and thread tail through the remaining 6 sts to close the top. Weave in all ends. Add Pegasus detail (See chart) using a duplicate stitch with white, gray and black yarn.
