Myriapoda

Miryapoda socks is worked cuff-down in a ribbed lace textured pattern. The heel flat and heel turn are renforced. The toe is worked as a seven-gore toe.
Material
Yarn: Tausendschon Handgefärbte Sockenwolle 75% Wool Superwash, 25% Polyamid(425 m /465 y /100 g) 1 skein Needles: circular needle 2.5 mm ( US ) or size to match gauge Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle

34 st / 44 rows = 10 cm / 4" over stockinette stitch

Cuff
CO 63 st (70, 77) divide the st. in this manner on the circular needle: S size : 28 (part 1) and 35 st (part 2) M size : 35 (part 1) and 35 st (part 2) L size : 35 (part 1) and 42 st (part 2) If you use dpn's, divide as you obtain a multiple of 7 in each needle. Join for working in the round, being careful not to twist the st. Place marker fot beginning of round. R1: \*k2, p1, k3, p1\* repeat 9 (10, 11) times in the round. Repeat R1 for a total of 16 rounds.
Leg
Work the 7-stitch-repeat of the Myriapoda pattern chart 9 (10, 11) times per round. Repeat rounds 1-2 of the chart 30 times (or to desired lenght). Then round 1 on 31 st (35, 35) only (=instep stiches).
Heel flap
Heel flat is worked flat over 31 (35,35) st. Repeat rows 3 and 4 15 (17, 17) times. Row 1 (RS): sl1, kto end, turn. (size S: sl1, k30, replace last stitch on instep (32 st for instep) Row 2 (wS): sl1, p to end, turn. Row 3 (RS): sl1 \*k1, sl1; repeat from \* 14 (16, 16) times, k2, turn. Row 4 (WS): sl1, p 30 (34, 34), turn. Last row should be a row 3 (RS)
Heel turn
Row 1 (WS): sl1, p16 (18, 18), p2tog, p1, turn. Row 2 (RS): sl1, k1,sl1,k1,sl1, k2 tog tbl, k1, turn. Row 3 (WS): sl1, p to 1 st before gap, p2 tog, p1, turn. Row 4 (RS): sl1, k2, \*sl1, k1; repeat from\* to 1 st before gap, k2 tog tbl, k1, turn. Row 5 (WS): sl1, p to 1 st before gap, p2 tog, p1, turn. Row 6 (RS): sl1, k1,\*sl1,k1; repeat from\* to 1 st before gap, k2 tog tbl, k1, turn. Repeat rows 3,4,5 and 6 until all sts have been worked. End with completed row 4. Note that there may not be a k1 or p1 in last 2 rows of heel turn. Don't turn after final row 4. There should be 17(19, 19) sts left on heel flap. Place a marker after these 17 (19, 19) sts: the beginning of the round is now here.
Gusset
Setup round: Pick up and knit 16 (18, 18) st from left edge of heel flap, place marker for start of instep, work 32 ( 35, 42) st in pattern (row 2), place marker for end of instep. Pick up and knit 16 (18, 18) sts from right edge of heel flap, PM, knit 17 (19, 19) sts. R1: k to the last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1, work the 31 (35, 42) instep sts in myriapoda pattern, k1, k2 tog tbl, k to marker, \*k1, sl1, repeat from\*, k1: You are at the end of round. R2: k to start of instep, work instep in myriapoda pattern, k to end of round. Work R1-2 until there are 31 ( 35, 35)
Foot
Continue working R2 until foot is 1 3/4 inches ( 4,5 cm), 2 inches ( 5 cm) for size L less than desired total foot lenght. Toe Size S R 1-5: k R 6: \*k7, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 56 sts R 7 and odd rounds: k R 8: \*k6, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 49 sts R 10: \*k5, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 42 sts myriapoda socks english v1.pages R 12: \*k4, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 35 sts R 14: \*k3, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 28sts R 16: \*k2, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 21 sts R 18: \*k1, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 14 sts R 20: \* k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times 7 sts Size M: begin R 6 with \*k8, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times, 63 sts. Continue the toe as size S. There are 22 roundsfor thetoe. Size L: begin R 6 with \*k9, k2 tog; repeat from\* 7 times, 70 sts. Continue the toe as size M and S. There are 24 rounds for the toe. Cut yarn and thread throught the live sts, pull tight to close the toe, and sew securely. Weave in ends.
