RENESMEE'SMITTENS
This pattern has been modified to a children size from Marielle Henault's pattern Bella's Mittens. My daughter loved my mittens and wanted a pair for herself. Marielle Henault was inspired by the film Twilight in which the character Bella Swan wore similar mittens. In Breaking Dawn (the book and the film of same saga) Bella has a daughter called Renesmee, hence the name of these mittens. ;o)

MATERIALS
Yarn Novita Kelo (50% acrylic, 50% wool; 90 m in 100 g skein) Needle 5,5 mm circular needle Scarpyarn
GAUGE
16 sts = 10 cm in Stockinette
SIZE
For approximately 2-3-year-old child Length 21 cm and the basic circumference 14 cm (both without stretching)

Cast on 25 sts, divide sts to circular needle (5,5mm): 11, 14. Knit by using Magic Loop method. Rows 1-6: [k1, p1] 6 times, k12, p1 Row 7: [k1, p1] 6 times, TWIST, p1 Row 8: [k1, p1] 6 times, k12, p1 Repeat Rows 1-8 twice more.
RIGHT mitten:
Row 25: k1, M1R, k2, M1L, k8, p1, k12, p1 Row 26: k13, p1, k12, p1 Row 27: k1, M1R, k4, M1l, k8, p1, k12, p1 Row 28: k15, p1, k12, p1 Row 29: k1, M1R, k6, M1L, k8, p1, k12, p1 Row 30: k17, p1, k12, p1 Row 31: k1, place next 8 sts on scrap yarn, cast on 2 sts, k8, p1, TWIST, p1

Thumb:
Pick up the 8 sts from scrap yarn, divide sts to circular needle (5,5mm): 4, 4. Knit by using Magic Loop method. Row 1: k8, pick up 4 sts in the gap, join in round Rows 2-3: k8, [k2tog] twice Rows 4-7: k8 Row 8: [k2tog] twice Cut yarn and thread it through the remaining 4 sts. Weave in all yarn ends.
