Completely Unoriginal Unoriginal MITTEnS

First I found the "Leftover Mitts" pattern by Emma Jane Maple, then her pattern led me to the "Unoriginal Hat" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. I loved both patterns, and made both, but then decided I wanted full mittens, and I wanted mittens with the larger cable pattern from the hat. So, unoriginally, here is what I came up with.

Materials:

Yarn: any super-bulky weight Needles: US13 (9mm) double-pointed Yarn needle for finishing

Skills:

In the round Provisional cast on Basic cabling Picking up stitches Increasing/decreasing Stitches: C2R= slip 1 stitch to cable needle (CN), hold in back. K2, p1 from CN. C2L= slip2 to CN, hold in front, p1, k2 from CN. C4B= slip 2 to CN, hold in back, k2, k2 from CN.

Top of each mitten:

Thumbs

Move 6 stitches from waste yarn to dpn, pick up 4 more stitches evenly around thumbhole. rows 1-7:k around row 8: k2tog around (5 stitches remain) row 9: k2tog, k2tog, k (3 stitches) use yarn needle to pull yarn through remaining stitches.

Finishing

Use yarn needle and tail to pull holes on tops of mittens together Weave in all other ends.
