The Oma-hat
In celebration of reaching the halfway point for my One Hundred Hats challenge, I wrote up this. quick hat pattern. Here in Omaha, we refer to our city as “The Big O"” and our city symbol is a giant red letter O. It was a no-brainer for me to turn this symbol into a pattern that could represent our city with pride!

Materials:
One skein Patons Classic Wool in white Remnant of Patons Classic Wool in contrasting color (I've used red) ? One set size US $8\mid5.00\;\mathrm{mm}$ bamboo $16^{\circ}$ circular needles ·One set size US 8 $8\mid5.00\;\mathrm{mm}$ bamboo DPNs· Darning needle ? four stitch markers, one in a contrasting color
Chart:
$\mathbf{X}=$ red yarn

Directions:
Using size 8 needles and main color, cast on 84 stitches. Work in $2\mathbf{x}2$ ribbing for 2 inches. Knit in stockinette stitch for five rows. Work chart in the round one time. Working with main color, knit until hat measures 5 inches from edge of ribbing. Set up for decreases as follows: Knit 21, pm, knit 21, pm, knit 21, pm, knit 21.
Decreases:
Row 1: \* k2tog, knit to 2 before marker, ssk\* (repeat around) Row 2 (and all even rows): knit all stitches. Repeat these two rows until there are 13 stitches between markers. Then repeat row 2 only until there are 3 stitches between markers, switching to DPNs when needed.
Finishing:
Break yarn, leaving a $12^{\bullet}$ tail, and bind off all stitches. Weave in all ends. Fold up brim and rock your Big O Hat!
