Lila
Materials:
200 - 300 yards Fingering/4 ply yarn (Bergere de France - Angel) 5mm & 4.5mm circular needle Stitch markers (optional)
Measurements
After Blocking shawl measures 130 cm wide and 46 cm deep at centre This delicate little shawl is knitted in one piece beginning at the bottom lace edge. The gradual crescent shape is made by working short rows in the stocking stitch section. The gentle crescent shape means it can be tied or draped in a variety of ways making it quite a handy little accessory. 'Lila' has a pretty little shell and diamond lace pattern. It was inspired by a lovely summer day spent beachcombing with a German friend; the sun danced and shone off the sea like lots of diamonds catching the light as we searched for shells and fossils. Lila' is German for lilac - with such a beautiful jewel like lilac coloured yarn it seemed a very fitting name for the shawl. I used Bergere de France's Angel yarn. It is classed as 4 ply but knits more like a lace weight. It's so light and feminine, creating a really airy feel and has a very slight mohair texture. However any lace weight yarn can be used as gauge is not important to the overall look of the shawl. Just ensure that you block it well to create the shape. The pattern includes written and charted instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
1.Cast on 351 stitches on larger needle. Casting on with a larger needle gives a looser edge to the lace that is easier to block into the points. I recommend using a stitch marker every 50 stitches to help keep track of such a lengthy cast on. 2. Change to smaller needle and begin Pattern A. 3.Work the 10 rows of Pattern A - 3 times. 4. Then work Pattern B. Rows 1-4 are the first 4 rows of pattern A. (The chart includes those but the written instructions just guide you to use first 4 rows of pattern A).

Bind off and weave in ends - a firm bind offis important to provide support for the crescent shape whilst stretching the lace points during blocking. If it is too stretchy it may lead to curling along the top and narrower points. 11. Block well
