MUTT AND JEFF COZIES
THE "JEFF" COFFEE COZY:
In today's go-go-go society, it's important to not let the little things bog you down. We want to be environmentally conscious and stay healthy, but we don't always have time to cook dinner from scratch every night, grow our own little vegetable garden, or switch over to all-natural beauty products. But on days when we're running out the door with a hairbrush in one hand and mascara wand in the other, we can rest assured that we're doing some small part every day. When we run by the local coffee shop for our cup of joe, we support a small business. A nice little knitted coffee cozy will reduce the strain on recycling centers, reduce overhead costs, and itll keep our coffee nice and toasty-less microwave radiation, please. This pattern utilizes all of those small scraps of stash yarn, handspun, and yarn test samples. It's also perfect for that weird, funky yarn you dyed when it was 2 am and you just couldn't help yourself. To prevent the stitches from laddering, you can arrange the stitches as follows: 8,6,8,6 (28 stitches total on 4 needles). Join for knitting in the round, being careful not to twist the cast on row. K1, P1 ribbing for 3 rows. The starting ribbing and ending ribbing colors are the same, but you can use whatever colors you want. At the start of the next round, simply join in a new color and continue knitting in k1p1 rib. Continue this color stripe for 4 rounds. Set up for jogless stripe: This is the setup round for jogless stripes-- there will not be a noticeable dip in your stripe as you knit in the round with this method. When you are finished with round 4 of the second stripe color, and before joining in the next color, kl, pl. Place your stitch marker. This moves the start of the round two stitches leftwards. The pattern will be maintained with the jogless stripe if you slip a knit stitch rather than a purl stitch.

color and continue knitting in klpl rib until you come back to the stitc marker This is round 1 of your third stripe color. Slip the stitch marker, slip the first stitch purlwise, then continue knitting round 2. Knit in established pattern for 2 more rounds, 3 rounds total for stripe number 3. Depending on your personal desires, either bind off purlwise after three stripes, or add in a fourth stripe. If you decide you want a fourth stripe, I suggest making all of the stripes 3 rows tall to make them all even. If you would like to add in a fourth stripe: Before adding in your fourth color, slip off the stitch marker, k1p1, replace the stitch marker. This moves the start of your round two more stitches leftwards. Add in your next color for stripe number 4 and continue knitting klp1 rib until you come back to the stitch marker. Slip the stitch marker, slip the first stitch purlwise, then continue the established pattern. Knit in klp1 rib for 3 rows total. BO purlwise. Weave in all ends. There are many ends to weave in, and it will add extra insulation to your cozy. I did my best to keep long tails so I could weave in the ends around the entire circumference of the cozy. It's a little extra finishing work, but I love how it turned out!
THE "MUTT" BEER COZY:
No matter what time of year it is, beer is a delightful drink to consume. It's great at parties, both big and small. It's the best accompaniment to a favorite movie. It's the perfect drink to gaze up at the stars in summer while lying on a blanket with your sweetie. Slip the stitch marker, slip the first stitch purlwise, then continue knitting round 2 of the third stripe in pattern. Knit St st for 6 rows total. Creative note: Our beers in Korea tend to be about 50% larger than the can beers we're used to in America. For this middle stripe (#3), I knitted 6 rows to make sure it covered most of the can. If you have shorter cans, I suggest making this a 3 row stripe instead. Before adding in your fourth color, slip off the stitch marker, knit one stitch, replace the stitch marker.
