Pattern illustration

Rose Maiden is a rectangular stole knit with a lace border at each end, a center of rose trellis pattern with a garter stitch base, and framing windows of garter stitch and rosehip stitch. Finished size, blocked, is approximately 28"x60".

Materials

750 yards of lace weight yarn Size 3 knitting needles (straight or circular) 6 stitchmarkers tapestry needle spare circular needle the same size as the main needle or a size or two smaller, for grafting Notes: After the first row following the cast on, slip the first stitch of every row purlwise with yarn in back. As the pattern is written, all wrong side rows of every pattern and part are knit, for a garter stitch base. Both the rosebud and rose trellis stitch work on a background of either garter or stockinette stitch, so you can choose to work the wrong side rows in purl or knit as you prefer. To increase or decrease the width, you can add or subtract 20 stitches for each desired change in the number of rose trellis pattern repeats.
