The Only One in the World Cowl by Professor Fonz
Almost infinitely customizable, this distinctive cowl marks you out as a Sherlockian in any outdoor context. A smallish design utilizing the patterns and techniques from my Knitting is Boring project (knitted entirely in the round, with fair isle motifs throughout). Great for seasonal gifts and for using up your yarn stash. The version presented here was developed for the winner of my tumblr knitlock giveaway. Make it your own by substituting/adding your own patterns and colours! You can use my 'Knitting is boring' patterns as inspiration. NB: This pattern is for private use only. Please do not use it for any commercial purpose. Thank you. Pattern Variations
This pattern can be customized in a variety of ways. You can use a wide range of motifs to profess your love for all things Sherlockian (or whatever else rocks your boat, it's all fine!) Here's a rough guide to your options: Work rib edge. The first 31 pattern rounds or so (156 sts on the needle) - you need a pattern (patterns) with a 12-st repeat (or a 6 st-repeat), for instance:

(John Watson Xmas) The next 12 rds or so (144 sts) - you need a pattern with a 6, 12, 18, 24 etc... up to 72 sts repeat, for instance:

(Moriarty Tie Skulls) The final 14 rds - you need a pattern with a 14-st repeat. OR ALTERNATIVELY you can just continue without further decreases with 144 sts on the needle (which allows for the most varied range of pattern widths) and decrease 4 sts at the top of the pattern, before switching to rib edge. Please message me if you have any pattern substitution questions - essentially though it's all fine.
