The toe and heels of the Origami socks look like they have been neatly folded from a flat piece of knitting. The toes are a modification of the Bosnian style sock toe. A rectangular piece is knit first, then stitches are picked up all the way around making a nifty sock that seamlesslyfolds around your toeslike a little envelope. The heel is worked by taking half of the heel stitches and working them together with the other half of the heel sts. At the same time, the other heel edge is decreased away, leaving a triangle shaped heel. When there is only one heel stitch left, you can go back into the round, picking up along the top edge of the heel triangle. Carry on in the round to complete thesock. The construction means there is very little counting involved when making the toe and heel. The shaping is very subtle and the socks themselves are very comfortable to wear. Self striping yarn looks really sharpwhenusedforthesesocks!
