Yarn

To gain a beautiful result you need to choose a very fine, slightly hairy yarn. If the yarn is to smooth the pattern will not stay in place. Bulky yarn is not recommended. The larger the needle size the more fragile the pattern becomes.

Lets get started. What you should know
Be prepared to fall in love with a combination of stitches that result in ,The Spider's Web'. Once you worked out the four rows counting 8 stitches that basically make up the pattern you will get addicted to this fast growing knit. Looking spectacular it is by no means difficult to knit, though as you are working with ,a double yarn over stitches in eyery row it becomes nearly impossible to rib out knitted rows. Therefore this pattern is highly recommended to knitters with a certain expertise. To get started easily I wrote down the first 1l rows stitch by stitch. If you follow this instruction you will get acquainted with the Spider's Web and get an overall idea of the sequel behind the chart. I would strongly recommend knitting these first rows with a rest of bulky yarn. When working with lace make sure to use pinpointed needles. And at last, be careful with the increases, they should be worked symetrically on both sides of a row. Khil il. Raphaela

If you are using the recommended yarn from Lana Grossa it will take you not more than 11 gr to complete this Shawlette.

A Shawl Is a spider's web Is a dream catcher Is an ariel Is A Shawl
Working part 2 - finishing
To bind off all stitches in the last row you should work the with a small crochet hook (size no larger than 3mm). To bind off first chain one stitch with a crochet hook in the first stitch of the last row. Than chain 5, continue ,crocheting the pattern: bind off stitches together that would be knitted together, bind off , Yarn overs as stitches, always chain 5 stitches for all dropped yarn overs (previous row). To finish the shawlette you should carefully stretch the delicate tissue into shape and do not leave it fixed for too long otherwise the tissue might lose it's tension. Fix the endings in circles so they will become curly.

In front rows you are knitting #1 and #2, in Backrows #3 and #4. A ,knot consists of 4 rows (#4 - #1 - #3 -#2)。 Now, have a look at row 1l: which is the first ,complete' set of stitches you find? It is # 3 (colored orange). You will find the same set in row 9. Now compare the stitches on the right side of that row with the stitches you see in your last row (green). You would start row 12 by working the first stitch twice and go on with #1. You should continue working the #2 and #1 set in that row. As your work is growing you always have to identify the first complete set of stitches. Backrows are made of #3 and #4. Always leave out the first two stitches in a row from the pattern. They are simply knitted or purled.

Note:
- When casting on stitches make sure to either use a stretchy technique or needles that are significantly thicker than the one you will go on knitting with - Purl all stitches in the first row - The pattern runs over 4 rows (2 front and 2 back rows) - The first 3 (1-3) rows are needed to build up the pattern
