The colour palette for thiy knit is goldenbrowny and yellows, bronze andclay-'though this canbe changed to siityour inpiration. An asymmetric, garter stitch shawl with distinct colour banding and a simplelacepattern creatingtextured bands. An eyetet laceedging on onefinished edge addypretty detailing and a uiqie twist to thizshawl.

Construction andAbbreviationg
This shawl starts with 2 cast on (CO) stitches and is increased at the centre and edges with knit-front-back (kfb) on both right side (RS) and wrong side (WS) rows. There are FOUR colour blocks, separated by a simple lace band, created by dropping yarn over (YO) stitches. After completing the fourth block and with 374 stitches along the longest edge (A), WS facing, stitches are bound off (BO) to the central marker (CM). A simple lace ‘eyelet' pattern edging (B) is then worked, back and forth, to complete this shawl. Please refer to the schematic on page 5 for clarity. In terms of modifications, there is huge scope to modify the pattern and alter the number and sizing of individual colour blocks as well as working with yarn weight variations.

Materials
Gauge and size.
Blocked Gauge: 17 stitches and 21 rows equals 4 inches (10 centimetres) in garter stitch. Blocked size: Length: 70" at longest edge Width: 21" at centre width. I have included gauge and blocked sizing for completeness, but I think it is not a key facet for this particular shawl. If you choose to modify this pattern in any way (particular with regards to pattern repeats and yarn substitutions) this will obviously impact on sizing and potentially, gauge. Blocking technique can also result in size variations. Please bear this in mind. Block 1: 1 skein of Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply/sport in Oyster (365m/399yds). (73m/79yds Used). Block 2: 1 Skein Gleem Lace 703 Silver and Bronze (800m/874yds) + 1 Skein Scrumptious Lace in Oyster (1000m/1099 yds) \*\*held double to create mottled effect (can be substituted for single 4ply). (200m/218 yds of each used)/ Block 3: 1 Skein of Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply 603 Silver and Bronze (365m/399yds) (255m/279 yds) used. Block 4: 1 skein of Eden Cottage Yarns Milburn 4ply Harvest Gold (399m/436yds) (179m/196yds used) circular of at least 32" (80cm length). Notiory: 1 Stitch Marker Note: Any of the yarns used can be substituted for 4ply variations that suit your preference. Similarly, this shawl can be knitted in other weight yarns, though you may need to adjust your needle sizing accordingly.

Edging /Trim
Referring to the schematic on Page 5 and WS facing, using a stretchy BO method, BO all 222 stitches along Edge A (until you reach the CM). Remove Marker At this stage, we will now work a lace trim, back and forth along Edge B. Before commencing the lace trim pattern, knit all stitches along Edge B, so that we can begin RS facing. Note, that we have an eveMnumber of stitches (152). This is relevant if you are modifying the pattern and is important that you end with an even number of stitches along this edge. Row 1 (RS): K1 \* K2tog, YO\* (repeat until 1 st remains), K1. Row 2 (WS: Knit Row 3 (RS): Knit Row 4 (WS): Knit Repeat these FOUR rows, FOUR times. Bind Off loosely (on 4th row of final pattern repeat and thus ws facing) Break Yarn.

Finishing
Weave in all ends. Block piece - this is to open up the YO bands and eyelet trim. Refer to measurements on schematic, for reference (note that variations in gauge and blocking technique may alter final blocked measurements. Modificationg
This pattern lends itself to be heavily modified in terms of pattern repeats (band width), yarn weight and colour ways. The yarn-over, lace bands, do not require a specific number of stitches to be repeated. The only provision required, is an even number of stitches for the 'eyelet lace trim' (K1, k2tog, YO, K1) - which should be attained, due to pattern repeats. Get in touch..
