Notes:

rs are knitted based on a cardigan I once bought in Ireland. The cardigan is filled with esting stitch patterns. Some of them are in these socks. This pattern is written down for size 45/46 over 66 stitches: the pattern is normal stretchy. In the panel with the rice stitches you can increase or decrease stitches for better fit. Also on the left of the right of the mock cable stitches can be increased and decreased for better fit.

Material:

About 100 gram sock yarn. Because this is a textured sock a solid or semi-solid yarn gives a better result.

Gauge:

In pattern: 32 st. and 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm. (unblocked) Knit: 28 st. and 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm. (unblocked)

Abbrevations:

K=knit P= purl Sl= slip one stitch SSK= slip, slip, knit both slipped stitches together K2TOG= knit 2 stitches together

Cast on:

Cast on 66 stitches with needles 2,5 mm and divide equally over 3 or 4 Needles.

Cuff:

Knit 20 rounds or 4 cm. in fantasy cuff stitch. Then continue in pattern until the leg has its required length.

Leg:

Knit in rice stitches on the front of the leg. Knit in floating hexagon stitches at the back of the leg. Between these panels you knit a mock cable at the outer side of the leg. The simple cable marks the transition between this mock cable and the panels. So you will be knitting three simple cables on each leg. So: Simple Cable (3 st.), Floating Hexagons (24 st.), Simple Cable (3 st.), Mock Cable (9st.), Simpl Cable (3 st.), and Rice Stitch (24 st.); 66 stitches in total. Divide the stitches over three needles or place stitch markers to mark the different stitch patterns. Knit the leg in the length you like best, but try to stop for the heel in preferably the 12th or 24th round of the floating hexagon stitch pattern. Heel knitted enforced over 34 St. Row 1: \* Sl 1 purlwise, K 1\* Row 2: purl Repeat row 1 and 2 until you knitted 34 rows. Turn Heel: (12-10-12) to be knitted. The general rule is 1/3 at the left, 1/3 in the middle and 1/3 at the right. In this s0ck we divide like 12-10-12. Row 1: Sl 1 purlwise, K 18, SSK, K 1, turn. Row 2: Sl 1 purlwise, P 5, P2TOG, P 1, turn. This leaves 12 St. unknitted on both sides. Row 3: Sl 1 purlwise, K 6, SSK, K 1, turn Row 4 and further to be knitted as before until all side stitches have been knitted. Gusset Pick up and knit 17 st. on each side of the gusset. Knit in pattern on the instep. Pick up an extra stitch before and after the instep if you like to be sure there'll be no holes. Knit on the instep the same stitch patterns as at the front of the leg. Notice the the mock cable should be at the outer side of the sock!

Gusset decreases:

Round 1: Knit til last 3 st., K2TOG, K1; Knit the 32 instep stitches in pattern; K1, SSK, knit to the end of the needle. Round 2.: No decreases and knit all heel stitches; Knit the 32 instep stitches in pattern Repeat these two rounds until 66 st. remain. Knit further until the foot is as long as required; the heel stitches are knitted, the instep is in pattern. Leave 5 cm. for the toe.

Toe:

Round 1: K1, SSK, knit across to last 3 st., K2TOG, K1. Continue with K1, SSK, knit across to last 3 st., K2TOG, K1. Round 2: Knit. Repeat round 1 and 2 until 16 St. remain. Close the remaining 16 st. with Kitchenerstitch. Next one..... Have fun! Erry
