STITCH EXPLANATION:

Right Twist (RT): k2tog leaving the sts on left needle, k first st on left needle again (as a normal knit stitch), slip both sts from needle

NOTES:

The first part of the pattern (the body of the capelet) is knit in the round. The collar part is knit flat, alternating RS and WS rows and not joining in the round. Also, you may not sell this pattern, but you may sell any finished products you made using it!

BODY OF CAPELET (in the round)

CO 27 sts (9 sts on each of 3 DPNs). Join. Row 1: \*k4, p5\* 3 times. Row 2: \*RT twice, p5\* 3 times. Row 3: Repeat row 1. Row 4: \*k1, RT, k1, p5\* 3 times. Row 5: Repeat row 1. Row 6: Repeat row 2. Row 7: \*k4, p2, p2 tog, p2\* 3 times. (24 sts) Row 8: \*k1, RT, k1, p4\* 3 times. Row 9: \*k4, p1, p2tog, p1\* 3 times. (21 sts) Row 10: \*RT twice, p3\* 3 times. Row 11: \*k4, sl1, p2tog, psso\* 3 times. (15 sts) Row 12: \*k1, RT, k1, p1\* 3 times.

COLLAR OF CAPELET (flat)

Turn so Ws is facing you. Work 1x1 rib (p1, k1) to end of row. Turn. Work a few rows in rib until you are satisfied with the length of the collar. Bind off in pattern. Use 3 scraps of yarn a bit longer than the bottom circumference of the capelet to make a braid and attach it to the bottom cast-on row, starting at the back (middle of twist). Use leftovers to make the "drawstrings" at the collar by attaching one strand of yarn to each side of the collar opening. Tie the ends into knots and make a bow.
