"Embraced" Lattice Pattern Gauntlets
These romantic gauntlets are knitted in the lattice cable stitch pattern from the Walker Treasury of Knitting Patterns and are finished with a ruffled picot edge on each end. The pattern is worked flat and then seamed together. They are VERY stretchy - one size only! The cables are only worked every eight rows in this pattern but the result is a intricate looking fabric.

Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft DK ( $57\%$ Merino, $33\%$ Microfiber, $10\%$ Cashmere) in Color Madame, 142 yards/130 meters, 2 balls (Notes: I used only a very small amount of the second ball of yarn!), Gauge: Exact gauge is not critical since pattern is very stretchy - should be approximately 8 stitches per inch in $2\mathtt{x}2$ ribbing Needles: US Size 6 (4mm) - larger or smaller if you know you knit tightly or loosely, respectively. Begin stitch pattern with row 1 (WS). Work Rows 1-16 of pattern 3 times, then work Rows 1-5 once. You should be ready to start a RS row. Picot Cast Off (note: when instructed to bind off stitches, do so as if to knit on all stitches): Bind off 2 stitches, \*Slip stitch on right needle back to the left needle, cast on 1 stitch using cable cast on method, bind off 3 stitches, repeat from \* until 1 stitch is left on left needle. Bind off, then fasten off the yarn. Undo the provisional cast on and place 46 stitches on the needle. Perform the Picot Cast Off as above. Now it is time to seam the gauntlet together. Using mattress stitch, start at the top and seam for 1.5 inch. Now start from the bottom and seam in mattress stitch until the thumbhole is 1.75 to 2 inches, depending on your preference (try it on as you work to see if the hole is the right size for you hand). Weave in all ends. Repeat all instructions to make second gauntlet. Now, flaunt!
