Helical Stripe Baby Hat
Very basic instructions! Needle: US5 circular or DPNs Yarn: Porto Cervo (aran weight $100\%$ cotton) Gauge: approx. 5-5.5 stitches per inch in stockinette Size: Newborn
Using White: Cast on 3 stitches. Work i-cord for about 1.25"-1.5"' to make loop that will be tacked down later. Kfb every stitch (6 stitches) Kfb, K1, Kfb, K1, Kfb, K1 (9 stitches) Kfb, K2, Kfb, K2, Kfb, K2 (12 stitches) Kfb, K3, Kfb, K3, Kfb, K3 (15 stitches) Switch to Pink and Kfb, K2 Switch to Yellow and Kfb, K2 Switch to Green and Kfb, K2 Switch to Blue and Kfb, K2 Switch back to White (you will pullit backward across a few stitches) and Kfb, K2 (round complete, 20 stitches) Continue with White and Kfb, K3 (you will be at the Pink working yarn) Switch to Pink (DO NOT cross working yarns; keep the previous yarn to the right and the new yarn to the left) and Kfb, K3; Switch to Yellow and Kfb, K3; Switch to Green and Kfb, K3; Switch to Blue and Kfb, K3. Continue in this manner, Kfb in the first stitch of a color and K until you reach the next color, until you have $80\mathrm{+/-}$ stitches on the needle. Work even, continuing in the helical stripe pattern until hat is approx. $5^{\circ}{-}5.5^{\circ}$ long from base of i-cord to edge of work, having just finished working with the White yarn. Rolled edge: Continue with the White yarn for all rounds. First, work one round knitting all stitches. Then, work one round $^{*}\mathrm{K}1$ , Sl 1, repeat from \* to end of round (to keep it from rolling too far). Work 8 more rounds all in stockinette and bind off. Weave in ends. Tack down i-cord at top to make a loop.
