Materials: Lace yarn or ingering weight yarn (needles at least one size bigger than the yarn calls for) 1.) Cast on 4 ( $+4$ exposed) stitches per provisional cast on\* knit 7 rows $\langle=3$ edge stitches on the left edge) 2.) Edge stitch, knit 3, pick up and knit 3 sts from the leff edge, knit the 3 exposed sts, edge stitch. 3) Distribution: Edge stitch $+\,4$ sts - center stitch - 4 sts $^+$ edge stitch 4.) Now you work the charts. Notice: · The chart only shows RS rows. On WS rows knit stitches as they appear. Purl yarn overs. Exception: always knit the center stitch (marked with a bold M). · The edge stitch is not marked in the chart. · The chart only shows the first half of the shawl and the center stitch, affter knitting the center stitch all stitches have to be knitted again in reverse order. · The purple shaded stitches are one pattern repeat in height and width - in further rows repeat these stitches once more till the center stitch or the end of the row
