Materials: 1 skein Classic Shades by Universal Yarns - 197yards/180m (or worsted weight yarn which gives similar guage. Sample scarf used 1 skein col 704; finished size about 9 /2" x 60" 24" circular (or straight) #8 US (5.0mm) 4 markers and 1 clasp marker Guage - 5 sts = 1" (Guage is not essential for this project) Abbreviations: K -Knit P - Purl PM - place marker YRN- wrap yarn over right needle front to back YON - wrap yarn over right needle back to front Sk2p - slip 1, knit 2 tog, pass slipped stitch over (decreases 2)
DIRECTIONS
Cast On 35 stitches, purl back to the beginning Row 1 - (RS)\*(k1, p1) across 5 sts, PM, (knit 3, purl 2) twice, PM; repeat from \* to last 5 stitches, k1, p1 to end. On the following rows, slip markers as you come to them. Row 2 - \*(k1, p1) across 5 sts, (K2, P3) twice; repeat from \* to last 5 stitches, k1, p1 to end Rows 3 - 6 - repeat Rows 1 & 2 twice Row 7 - \*(k1, p1) across 5 sts, (YRN, Sk2p, YON, P2) twice; repeat from \* to last 5 stitches, k1, p1 to end Row 8 - Repeat Row 2 Repeat Rows 1 - 8 in pattern for desired length.
