Jasper Striped Socks
This pattern is for a thick knit calf length striped sock for the winter season in UK shoe sizes 5 & 7.
Materials
Aran weight yarn or yarn to achieve correct tension 75 - 85g, 151 metres A 60 -80g, 125 metres B 4mm DPN or needles to achieve tension
Tension
22 stitches and 27 rows to 10cm over stocking stitch

K Knit P Purl SI Slip K2tog Knit 2 together Psso pass slip stitch over
Instructions
Cast on 40 stitches in A and join to knit in the round. Work in K2, P2, rib for 12 rounds Knit 2 rounds Join in B and knit 2 rounds Continuing to knit all rounds work 2 rows A then 2 rows B until 36 rows have been knitted carrying yarn up the sides. Break off colour B
Heel Flap
Working in A only continue with the heel flapKnit the first twenty stitches onto one needle and continue to work on these stitches Only Row 1: sl1, purl to end Row 2: sl1, (k1, sl1) to the end Repeat these two rows until 20 rows have been worked
Shaping the heel
Still continuing on these stitches only work the following Row 1: P13, P2tog, P1, turn (19 stitches) Row 2: Sl1, K7, SI1 K1 PSSO, K1 turn (18 stitches) Row 3: Sl1, P8, P2tog, P1 turn (17 stitches) Row 4: Sl1, K9, Sl1 K1 PSSO, K1 turn (16 stitches) Row 5: Sl1, P10, P2tog, P1 turn (15 stitches) Row 6: Sl1, K11, Sl1 K1 PSSO, K1 (14 stitches)
Turning the heel
You will now pick up the stitches along the heel flap and join the other stiches to continue knitting in the round. With the right side facing pick up and knit 11 stitches from the left side of the heel flap, Knit the 20 stitches from the other needles onto one needle. Pick up and knit 11 stitches from the other side of the heel flap and 7 stitches from the heel Your stitches should be arranged as follows: NEEDLE 1: 18 stitches NEEDLE 2:20 stitches NEEDLE3:18stitches Jasper Striped Socks Knit stitches from needle 1 in yarn A then join yarn B to stitches on needle 2 knit stitches from needle 2 and 3 in B Round 1: Needle 1: K to last 3 stitches , K2tog, K1 Needle 2: Knit Needle 3: K1, sl1 K1 PSSO, knit to end Round 2: Knit Continuing to work in stripes Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until 40 stitches remain. Work a further 18 rows for size 5, 26 for size 7 break off yarn B and work only in yarn A from this point forward,
Toe Shaping
Round 1: Needle 1: Knit to last 3 stitches K2tog, K1 Needle 2: K1, sl1 k1 PSSO, Knit to last 3 stitches K2tog, K1 Needle 3: K1, sl1 k1 PSSO, Knit to end Round 2: Knit Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until 16 stitches remain. Knit stitches from needle one to needle 3 so there are 8 stitches on each needle. Carefully turn your sock inside out with live stitches right sides together. Using the three needle bind off cast off all stitches. Weave in any looseends. If you prefer you can use Kitchener stitch to graft the toes
