"Showcase"
A headband / headwrap to showcase that teensy amount of special fingering weight yarn ... By Adriana ("kaaktus" on Ravelry)
Ever wondered what to do with that small amount of special yarn left over from a shawl or sock project? This is a ridiculously quick little project that makes that wee bit of yarn go a long way. It's especially effective for showcasing variegated or hand dyed yarns. The sample was knitted with approximately 80ms of fingering weight 100% wool which was hand dyed by the talented kamah on Ravelry (thanks Kathy!). This is a seamless design with shaping achieved by using short rows. If you are unfamiliar with working short rows, there's a great tutorial here: http://www.knitpicks.com/images/pdf/shortRowTutorial.pdf. Enjoy! X

REQUIREMENTS
· Fingering weight yarn - the amount you have/use will determine the width of your finished item. I used approximately 80ms of yarn and completed 6 repeats of the Basic Pattern ?3.00mm knitting needles ·Sewing up needle to weave in ends · A 4.00mm DPN or knitting needle for 3 needle bind-off
GAUGE
24sts/10cms slightly stretched
ABBREVIATIONS
BO = Bind off CO = Cast on K = Knit P = Purl W&T = Wrap and turn
INSTRUCTIONS
D and P one row. Either leave a long tail when casting on or cast on using provisional methoc Work as many repeats of the Basic Pattern (see below) as desired. Work the first four rows of the Basic Pattern. BO knitwise. Do not cut the yarn. Turn the work (with right side facing) and pick up stitches along the side edge. The number of stitches picked up will depend on the number of repeats of the Basic Pattern. I picked up approximately I stitch for every 2 rows. If your item is especially thick/ thin (in terms of rows worked), you may want to pick up less/more stitches per row. Work as many rows of garter stitch (K every row) as is required to make the item fit your head. The sample is knitted with 50 rows of garter stitch. If you didn't use a provisional method when casting on, use the long tail you left to pick up the same number of stitches along the other side as you have been working in garter stitch for. If you cast on using the provisional method, return live stitches to needle. Using the 4.00mm needle, execute a 3 needle B0 to complete your headband/headwrap.
