by Veera Välimäki Splash a bit of colour into the season! This small Scallopped beanie is easy to knit with only a few rounds of stranded colorwork.

materials
Yarn: 2 skeins of Tosh Merino Light by Madelinetosh (420 yds [384 m] per skein),l skein in each color.Approx.200 (250, 300) yards [180 (230, 280) meters] of fingering weight yarn (both colors included). Sample was knit in the colorways Smokestack (MC, grey) and Edison Bulb (CC, yellow) in women's size. Needles: US 1 [2.5 mm] and US 2 [3 mm] circular needle, 16" [40 cm] long, and dpns. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Other: tapestry needle, stitch markers, stitch holders/waste yarn and blocking aids.

Finished brim circumference: 16 (18, 19%)" [40 (45, 50) cm].

24 sts and 36 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch using larger needles.

Using smaller circular needle and MC,CO 96 (104,120)sts.Carefully join in round, not twisting your stitches. Pm for beginning of round and work in lXl ribbing until the brim measures 1 (2,2)" [3 (5,5) Cm].
Body
Change to larger circular needle and increase on first round as follows: k 12 (13, 15), Ml; repeat from * 7 (7, 7)moretimes[104(l12,128)sts on needle]. Continue in Stockinette stitch until the beanie measures 24 (2,3)"[6(7,8)cm]from cast-on edge. Change to CC and work 3 rounds in St st. Work through chart A (repeating the colorwork pattern 13(14,16) times across each round) - Note: To avoid long strands of yarn on the inside of the beanie in the colorwork section, catch the un-worked yarn after every 3-4 sts by twisting with the working yarn. Change to MC and work 10 rounds in St st. Change to CC and work 3 rounds in St st. Work through chart A (repeating the colorwork pattern 13(l4,16)times across each round). Change to MC and continue until the beanie measures 7 (8,9)″[18(20,23)cm] Begin decreases 一 Note: Change to dpns when necessary. Setup round: \*k 13, 14, 16, pm; repeat from \* 7 times more. Decrease round: \*k until 2 sts before m remain,k2tog; repeat from \* 7 times more. Repeat the decrease row on every row until8stsremain.Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches twice. Fasten off securely. Weave in all yarn ends. Block the beanie using your preferred method.
