Materials

1 ball (155 yd.) heavy worsted wt. yarn (sample shown in Moda Dea "TweedleDee") Size US 11 (8 mm) circular needle (24" length) Size K/10.5 (6.5 mm) crochet hook Tapestry needle Gauge: 10 sts & 20 rows = 4" in garter stitch on size US 11 (8 mm) needle Pattern notes: Collar is knit circularly from neck down. Bind-off is achieved by picking up stitches on last round with crochet hook and creating a crochet loop bind-off. Terms/Abbreviations: beginning (beg), bind off (BO), cast on (CO), chain (ch), knit (K), loop (Ip), needle (ndl), purl (P), repeat (rep), round (rnd), slip stitch (sl st), stitch (st), yarn over (yo)

Collar

CO 72 sts loosely, join for circular knitting, being careful that sts are not twisted on needle. Place marker to note beginning of round. \*K2, P2, rep from \* around (72 sts) Rep last round until ribbed section measures 4" from beg. Change to garter stitch in the round: K1 rnd. P1 rnd. Rep last 2 rnds until piece measures 8" from beg. Crochet bind-off edging: Rnd 1: With crochet hook, transfer first 2 sts on knitting needle to hook, yo and pull Ip through these 2 sts (1 Ip remains on hook), ch 5, \*transfer next 2 sts on knitting needle to hook, yo and pull Ip through all 3 sts on hook, ch 5, rep from \* around until all sts have been worked off knitting needle, join with sl st (36 ch-5 loops). Rnd 2: Ch 1, \*in next ch-5 loop work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc), rep from \* around, join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.
