\*The Game Is On' Mittens

Perfect for consulting detective work in chilly conditions, these practical fingerless mittens allow for easy handling of clues, mugs of tea, magnifiers, books, riding crops and laptops. The featured iconic 221B wallpaper design identifies the wearer as one of the Baker St Irregulars.
Materials:
Naturally Loyal Aran/10-ply, 100% wool (A) Black - 1 skein (50 g) (B) Grey - 1 skein (50 g) 1 set of 4 DPNs size 4.5 mm Stitch markers, stitch holder Gauge: 20 sts per 10 cm in St st
Size: Woman's S-M
Abbreviations:
m1 -make 1 stitch sts: stitches rnd: round m - marker pm: place marker sm: slip marker
Notes:
This pattern is knit entirely in the round, using standard fair-isle or stranded techniques for twocolour knitting. Black is the dominant colour in the pattern, so the black strand should always be underneath the grey (according to the dominant goes down’ rule) to emphasise the raised wallpaper' texture. Both cuffs are worked the same, but the thumb gusset is worked on different sides for each hand.
Wallpaper pattern
This pattern is based largely on the short float version of The Wallpaper Had It Coming; original pattern here, short float version here. I merely tweaked it a little.

NB: The red dot indicates the middle st of the thumb gusset for right mitten. The green dot indicates the middle st of the thumb gusset for left mitten. http://www.tricksyknitter.com/knitting-charts/the-game-is-on-wallpaper-46724
Thumb gusset pattern
basically a K1 in A, K1 in B stripe. A is still the dominant colour.
