Needle size : 4mm Gauge is not important Directions Cast on 304 stitches. Knit for 1 row. Begin working the border as follows: Row 1 (WS): p4 ( k11,p4) repeat to end. Row 2 (RS): R4 (p11, k4) repeat to end. Row 3: p2 (p2tog, p11, p2togt6l) repeat until last 2 sts then p2. Row 4: R2 ( ssk k9, k2tog ) repeat until last 2 sts then k2. Row 5: p2 (p2tog, p7, p2togt6l) repeat until last 2 sts then p2. Row 6: k4 [(yo, k1 )x5, yo,k4] repeat to end Rows 1 - 6 equal one pattern repeat. Work2 pattern repeats and then rows 1 and 2 once more. Begin working the Lace Trellis pattern as follows: Rows 1 and 3 (WS): purl Row 2: k4 [k1,( yo,k2tog) x5,k4] repeat until end. Row 4: k4 [( sskyo) x5, k5] repeat until end. Rows 1-4 equals 1 pattern repeat. Work 1 pattern repeat and then work rows 1-3 once more.

Continue as follows:

Row 1 (RS): k6 I( sskyo) x3, k9] repeat until 13 sts remain then (ssk, yo)x3, k7. Rows 2 and 4 (WS): purl Row 3: k7[o,k2tog) x3,k9] repeat until 12 sts remain then (yo, k2tog) x3, k6. Next continue in the following pattern: Row 1 (RS): k8 [(sskyo, k13) repeat until 11 sts remain then ssk yo, k9. Rows 2 and 4 (WS): purl Row 3: k9 (6o,k2tog ,k13) repeat until 10sts remain then yo, k2tog, k8. Rows 1-4 equals 1 pattern repeat. Work2 pattern repeats then work rows 1 and 2 once more, increasing 1 stitch (M1) in the midde of row 2. ( 305stitches) Begin short row shaping as follows : 57, turn work. ( do not wrap and turn, simply turn your knitting to the other sic. Row 2 (WS): p9, turn work Row 3: Knit until 1st stitch before the turning point then sskk3, turn work. Row 4: Purl until 1st stitch before the turning point then p2tog,p3, turn work. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until there are 8 stitches remaining on each side left to be worked then , continuing in set pattern, purl on the right sides and knit on the wrong sides. This will help in keeping the cast off edge fromcurling.
