Matter and Void
This stole was inspired by Clapotis, Kate Gilbert's famous knitty pattern.
Materials:
822 meters / 900 yards of fingering weight yarn (shown in Wollmeise $100\%$ superwash, colorway Veilchen, 1.5 skeins needed) 3 mm circular needle or straight needles Tapestry needle
Gauge:
30 stitches and 40 rows on $10\,\mathsf{c m}~/\,4^{\prime\prime}$ in stockinette stitch (blocked) However, you can choose whatever gauge you like best for the yarn you use. Keep in mind that a looser gauge will result in a bigger stole (and more yarn needed)! Set up row 1: k3 \*k2tog, Yo, ssk, $k2^{*}$ k2tog, Yo, ssk, k3 (99 sts remain) Set up row 2: sl1, p1\*p1, ptbl, k1, ptbl, p1\* p2. Work Row 1-10 of the chart for 21 times. Work row 11 and 12. Work row 13-22 for 21 times. Bind off (loosely!): Work a normal bind-off (k2sts, \*pull first sts over second sts, $k1^{*}$ ) up to the first purl st. Drop the purl st. Shift the st on your right needle back to the left needle and knit it once again. Repeat this two more times. Then bind of the next 4 knit sts and go on in the established way. Instruction:

Measurements can vary depending on the gauge and the degree of blocking.
Varying the size:
If you want to make the stole longer or shorter, just add or leave out repeats in the left-leaning as well as the right-leaning section. If you want to use all of your yarn: Weight your yarn cake before starting and write it down. When you work row 11 of the chart there needs to be half of the cake left. Block and weave in the ends. Cast on 118 sts using the long-tail cast-on.

The blue box marks the repeat section (5 sts) which you work 18 times on each row. The red vertical lines divide the chart into the 3 sections (Ileft leaning / middl / right leaning).
