Stolen From the Sea: A Quick-Knit Stole Pattern with Varied Stitch Designs Using Sock Yarn and Large Needles

Pattern illustration

Stolen From the Sea is a stole that knits up quickly on large needes and only requires 1oo grams of sock yarn. It contains four different stitch patterns, but they are all variations of one base pattern and only use knit stitches and yarnovers. Gauge is not important, so just start knitting!

Materials

Yarn: 2 x 50-gram skeins of Drops Delight (colourway 03 is pictured). 175 m (191 yds) per skein, 350 m (382 yds) in total. Needles: 6 mm (US 1o / UK 4) circular needles (100 cm / 40" or longer) Tapestry needle for weaving in yarn ends The size of the stole in the pictures is 35 x 183 cm (13in x 6ft) after blocking. Size will obviously vary with yarn, gauge and how you block it. Notes on substituting yarn You could use 1oo grams of any sock yarn that will block well. Drops Delight is a variegated yarn with long colour stretches; yarns that could work well as substitutes include Noro sock yarns and Sandnes Mini Palett. If you use a yarn with less yardage, you could try casting on fewer stitches (pattern is based on a repeat of 1o sts plus 6), only work one repeat of pattern D, or skip pattern D altogether. If you use a yarn with more yardage, you could try casting on more stitches (by increments of 10 stitches), or working one or more of the patterns more times. If you do the latter, make sure you knit two rows straight before casting off (rows I-2 or 5-6 of the stitch patterns).
