Chaussettes Sans Souci \~ Carefree Socks
by Karen Martin Kepner

Toe up or top down, use your favorite toe, heel, and cuff to make these easy, carefree socks. Any multiple of four stitches will work. This stitch pattern is designed to work with handpainted, variegated yarns, especially those with short stretches of color, but will also work well with solid and semi-solid colorways. What follows is not a complete sock pattern, but a chart to use on the leg and/or instep of your socks. These directions, therefore, assume the knitter is familiar with sock construction. Enjoy some easy, care free knitting! (A note regarding the cuff on the toe up sample pictured: I used 7 rounds of 2 X 2 ribbing, six rounds of stockinette stitch, and a stretchy bind off.) This pattern is for personal use only and is not to be distributed. Items made with this pattern may not be sold for profit. @2013 Karen Kepner
