Serpentine Mitts
DESIGNED BY MIRIAm L. FELTON

These simple fingerless gloves fit like a dream and look like a million bucks. The non-traditional cable is fun to knit as well as fun to wear. This pattern is offered in 3 sizes and the larger sizes could easily be for men as well. Sizing is measured by hand circumference around the palm, above the thumb.

Notes:
● This pattern is sized to fit with about 1" of negative ease. Meaning that for a 7" size, the finished mitt will be about 6" around. This allows for a comfortable and secure fit. The gusset is worked at the same time as the cables, but is written in a separate section. Remember to work them at the same time but in the location indicated in the gusset section instructions Stretchy sewn bind off is worked thus: Cut the tail of yarn 4 times length of a round or row, then thread onto a tapestry needle and \*\*thread through 2 sts as if to purl and then back through the first st as if to knit and slide the first stitch off the needle. Repeat from \*\* until allsts are worked.
Pattern:
Cuff: Cast on 48(56,64) sts and join in the round, being careful not to twist. Divide sts evenly on 4 needles. Work 4 inches of k2 p2 ribbing. If you desire a longer mitt, work ribbing for more than 4".
Gusset:
NOTE! The Gusset is worked at the same time as the cables, but placed differently based on which handyou areknitting for!For left hand, gusset is worked at the end of needle 4 and before needle 1. For right hand, gusset is worked at the end of needle 2 and before needle 3. Gusset rnd 1: m1, place marker on each side of new stitch to mark gusset sts. Gusset rnd 2 and every even gusset round: knit all gusset sts. Gusset rnd 3: m1, k1, m1 (3 sts) Gusset rnd 5: m1, k to end of gusset sts, m1 Repeat Gusset rnds 5 & 6 until you have a total of 21(23,25) gusset sts, then continue in stockinette until cablework isdone.
Serpentine Cables:
The following instructions can be worked from either the written directions or the charts. The chart and legend are on the last page. For both hands, work the following instructions (or the chart) over needles 1 &2 & continue ribbing on other needles, remembering to work gusset sts as instructed above.
