vino arm warmers
Keep your arms warm! Wear them while you sip some vino. I always do. It's ever so stylish.
MATERIALS
Yarn: 1 skein Cascade 220 (this color, 7811) Needles: Us8/5mm and US7/4.5mm needles (either sets of 4 dpns or two circular needles or one long circular needle using magic loop method)
GAUGE
US8 @ 4.5 st per inch. Gauge not entirely applicable in this pattern.
ABBREVIATIONS
C2f - cross 2 stitches to the front Slip 2 stitches to the RH needle. With the LH needle in front of the RH needle, go past the first slipped stitch on the RH needle and insert it in the second slipped stitch. Slide the RH needle out of both stitches, insert it into the hanging stitch, and then transfer it to the LH needle. Knit both stitches. C2b - cross 2 stitches to the back Slip 2 stitches to the RH needle. With the LH needle in back of the RH needle, go past the first slipped stitch on the RH needle and insert it in the second slipped stitch. Slide the RH needle out of both stitches, bring the tip around and insert it into the hanging stitch, and then transfer it to the LH needle. Knit both stitches. INSTRUCTIONS Make 2. Cast on 40 st with Us8 needles. Join to work in the round being careful not to twist the stitches. Rounds 1-4: \*K1, P2, K4, P2, K1\* repeat from \* to last stitch. Begin Cable Pattern. Cabled Round 1: \*K1, P2, C2f, C2b, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Cabled Round 2: \*K1, P2, K4, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Cabled Round 3: \*K1, P2, C2b, C2f, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Cabled Round 4: \*K1, P2, K4, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Repeat Cabled Rounds 1-4 9 times more (10 total).

At this point you will stop knitting in the round and knit flat, back and forth, which will allow for a hole for your thumb between the two knit stitches at the beginning and the end of the round. This next round is a right-side round so you knit it as if you were going to continue in the round, but at the end of it, you will turn your work and knit on the wrong side. For ALL of the following flat rows, slip only the first stitch of the row (indicated here in parentheses) otherwise follow the repeat as indicated (outside of the parentheses). Flat Row 1 RS: \* (Sl1) K1, P2, C2f, C2b, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Flat Row 2 WS: \* (Sl1) P1, K2, P4, K2, P1\* repeat from \*. Flat Row 3 RS: \* (Sl1) K1, P2, C2b, C2f, P2, K1\* repeat from \*. Flat Row 4 WS: \* (Sl1) P1, K2, P4, K2, P1\* repeat from \*. Repeat these 4 rows 2 times more (3 total). Repeat Flat Row 1. Rejoin tightly and work Cabled Rows 2-4 one time. Knit Cabled Rows 1-4 one more time. Now, you'll switch to a twisted 1x1 rib with the US7 needles for 8 rounds. A twisted rib on smaller needles gives the stitched area surrounding your fingers a nice crisp detail. Twisted Rib: \*K1 through the back loop, P1\* repeat from \*. BO and weave in ends.
