Knitting pattern for a brimmed bird hat There was a time when people didn't think of short online messages when they heard the words “twitter’ and “tweet'. They thought solely of birds. This pattern was designed to connect the twitter to the bird again.

This pattern means to inspire you to create your own feathered friend. You can knit a Blackbird or a Jailbird, like shown in the pictures. But what about making your own Bird of Paradise, Seagull of even Love Bird? Twitter is considered an quite easy hat to knit. The earflaps (or \*wings') are knit in ribbed short row wedges. The \*beak' is in fact a double brim. Design and pictures by Thelma Egberts SIZE One (child)

PATTERN NOTES
This hat is knitted from backside up. Back and earflaps are knitted together on straight needles. Earflaps are shaped by knitting sort row wedges. You don't have to knit the wraps. (For longer or shorter earflaps knit more or less wedges than the pattern states.) After completing the earflaps, cast on extra sts for the front of the hat and knit in the round from thereon. Most of the hat is knitted in rib stitch. While knitting back and forth knit all rows. While knitting in the round form ribs by alternating knit and purl rows.
Specific stitches:
LLinc: Left-leaning Lifted Increase. Insert your left needle, from front to back, into the top of the stitch two rows below the stitch just knit. Knit into the back of this stitch.
