BEEF STEW for our cats
Ingredients:
1 pound ofSTEWBEEF 1 cup CARROTS (if baby carrots, no peeling!) OR 3 medium-sized Carrots, peeled & sliced 1/4-inch 1 cup WATER Optional: 1 teaspoon FLAX SEED Optional: 1 medium-sized POTATO Optional: Other vegetables, chopped into chunks PRESSURECOOKER FOOD PROCESSOR, BLENDER or KNIFE
Instructions:
Place ingredients inside pressure cooker (a lidded pot will also work, but will not soften the ingredients as much and will require more blending): fill about 1/3 cup of water (to just above metal lift), place meat, place carrots and optional vegetables, sprinkle flax seed, pour remaining water into pot. Cook on HIGH heat (9 out of 10 settings) until pressure cooker begins to “hiss'. Approximately 5-10 minutes. Turn heat down to MEDIUM-HIGH (7 out of 10 settings). Cook for an additional 25 minutes. Turn off heat and let pressure cooker sit for 5 minutes. Place pressure cooker carefully into sink filled with 2-3 inches of cold water to cool. Run cold water over pressure cooker lid for about 1 minute (being careful not to allow water to enter any pressure cooker openings. Tap on ball at top that controls pressure to alleviate some of the pressure (you may hear a hiss). Remove pot from sink. Carefully open lid and place stew into blender friendly container. Blend up stew using either a food processor/blender or knife to the consistency of a shredded moist cat food. Place into containers for refrigerated storage. Use within a week (if it lasts that long!) or freeze extra servings immediately.
Enjoy kitties & owners/caretakers!!
Notes:
Other stew meats may also be successful. I have not had success with chicken thighs, but turkey thighs (boneless) are a huge hit. Other butcher meats may also be excellent flavors.
