Yarn
<uwool Fingering (100% Finnish wool, app. 195 m per 50g) color A (maincolor) and 1 ske ntrasting color). Shown in sample: Yellow, Kimo 30 and Dark Gray, Rae 10
Needles
US 1,5 (2,5 mm ) dpns or size to obtain gauge. Others Stitch markers, tapestry needle and waste yarn. Size Adult, finished lenght 10 " (24,5 cm ). Gauge 28 sts and 40 rows = 4"(10 cm ) in Stockinette stitch.
Pattern
CO 48 sts with CC divided over 4 dpns, being careful not to twist. Knit one round k2p2 ribbing. Continue ribbing with MC for 3,5" ( 8 cm). Wicdwthd Increase round: \*K11, m1; repeat from \*, knit to end - 52 sts. Work Stockinette stitch for 1" (2,5 cm ). Thumb Cusset (left hand only): Set up round: K23, pm, k2, pm, knit to end. Increase round: Knit to the marker, sm, m1, k2, m1, sm, knit to end. Next round: Knit. Thumb Cusset (right hand only): Set up round: K27, pm, k2, pm, knit to end. Increase round: Knit to the marker, sm, m1, k2, m1, sm, knit to end. Next round: Knit. Repeat the last 2 rows, 7 more time -18 sts betweenmarkers. Knit to marker, place 18 sts on the waste yarn. Cast on 2 sts using backward loop method, knit to end. Cont in until mitten measures 9" (23,5 cm ) from cast-on edge.
Shape mitten top:
Set up round: Work across 26 sts, pm, knit to end. Dec round: K1, ssk, knit to 3 sts befour m, k2tog, k1, sl, k1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 (4 sts decreasing) Next round: Knit. Repeat these two rounds 4 more times -32 sts. Graft remaining sts together using Kitchener st.
Thumb:
Place 18 sts on the needles, pick up 2 sts along the mitten body and join in the round - 20 sts. Note: Pick up a few extra stitches to avoid holes, but decrease these sts on next round. Knit until thumb measures full lenght. Cut yarn and thread through rem sts. Cinch tight. Finishing Weave in all ends.
