The socks are first knit horizontally around the cuff then stitches are picked up for the leg and foot. I used a basic slipped stitch flap heel, but it's easy to substitute any heel and toe you like as well as adjusting the stitch count of the leg to fit any foot. Please adjust them however you need to make them perfect for you.

Pick up the first row of stitches and remove waste yarn from the provisional cast on. Graft two ends of cuff together. I suggest Kitchner, but a three needle bind off with RS facing will workalso.
Leg
Change to smaller needles. Pick up and knit each slipped stitch (through both legs) from edge of cuff (approx 48 stitches). You may need to pick up a few extra stitches around the graft to close any gaps. In next row increase, evenly around leg, the total number of stitches to 60 . Knit until cuff is the desired length to the top of the heel flap. Sock pictured was 5.5" Rearrange stitches on your needles so that seam of cuff will fall at the back of the heel.
Heel Flap
Work back and forth on half the stitches as follows. Row 1 WS: Slip 1, P across Row 2 RS: (Slip 1, K1) repeat across Continue repeating these two rows a total of 15 times. There will be 15 slipped stitches on each side of the heel flap.
Turn Heel
Row 1: P to center of row, P 2, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Row 2: SI 1, K 5, SSK, K 1, turn. Row 3: Sl 1, P to one stitch before gap, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Row 4: Sl 1, K to one stitch before gap, SSK, K 1, turn. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitches are used ending with a right side row.
Gusset and Foot
With right side facing pick up and knit each slipped stitch on left side of heel flap, pick up one additional stitch to close the gap at the corner, knit across the top stitches that have been dormant, then pick up and knit the same number of slipped stitches from the right side of the heel flap. Rounds now begin at the center of the back heel. Round 1: Beginning at center of heel, Knit to last three stitches of the needle, K2tog, K1. Knit across top of foot. At beginning of next needle K1, SSK, Knit to center of heel Round 2: Knit around.
Toe
Round 1 (K1, SSK, K to last three stitches, K2tog, K1) repeat Round 2Knit Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until there are 20 stitches remaining. Graft toe. @ 2008 Sarah House
