Yarn: Fingering-weight sock yarn in three colors that gives you proper gauge,370 - 420 yards; Sample Shown: Wollmeise 100% Merino Superwash [100% Merino; 575yd per 150g skein]; color: Olio Vergine [MC], Malabrigo Sock [100% SUPERWASH Merino; 440yd per 100 gram skein]; colors: Natural [CC1],Alcaucil [CC2]: less than 1 skein each. Needles: 1 set of US 1(2.25 mm) 32" circular needles (magic loop),2 sets of 24" circulars or double pointed needles OR size to get gauge. Gauge: 32 sts/48 rows = 4" in Stockinette Stitch. Notions: Stitch markers, yarn bobbins (for intarsia heel), tapestry needle. Skill Level: This advanced-level pattern is knit in the round. The ribbed cuff is knit first, the striped and stranded leg next,an intarsia heel flap,then a wedge toe. You'll need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, do colorwork, pick up stitches, and follow charts and written instructions. NOTES: Times like these call for a Big Lebowski. "The Dude" wears a Cowichan-style Pendleton sweater in the film. This sock is also in the Cowichan style and is made in honor of Lebowski: not a man, a way of life. With MC CO 60 (64,72) sts and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist sts when joining. Rnds 1-9: [K2,p2] across all sts. If the strands seem too long or are in the wrong location, break yarn and reattach as needed. Heel:

Wind bobbins (if desired) with these colors and use Eagle Chart for the heel. Approx 2 yards of each color per section is sufficient. Rnd 1: With CC1, K19 (21,23),p15 (16, 18), k2tog,slm, knit to next marker, slm, ssk, p15 (16, 18) Rnd 2: With MC, Knit to marker, slm, knit to next marker, slm, k to end of rnd. Rnd 3: With MC, K to last 3 sts before m, k2tog, k1, slm, knit to next m, slm, k1, ssk, k to end of rnd. Rnd 4: With CC1, Knit to marker, slm, knit to next marker, slm, k to end of rnd.
