Gauge: 6.25 stitches and 9 rows per 1" Sizes: To fit a size 19"(21.5", 24") head Yarn: 1 (1, 2) skein Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Spirit (100% Wool) 130yd/50g Materials: Size US 6 (4mm) Circular Needles & DPN's (if required) Tapestry Needle The Freedom! Hat shows off the unique marled and self-striping properties of Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Spirit, a 100% wool, single ply, DK yarn. By using a simple stockinette, the unique color palette is shown off to its best advantage. The simplicity also makes the pattern perfect for substitutions for other busy yarns, and the adult large size makes it perfect for the man in your life just looking for a simple hat with no frills.

CO 119 (134, 149) stitches. Join in the round and begin working in k2, p2, ending with k1, p1(k2; k1). Work ribbing for 12", or about 5 rows. Begin working in stockinette stitch (knit) until the entire piece (including ribbing) measures 4.5" (5", 5.5"). Begin working decrease rows as outlined below. Row 1: (ssk, k13) 8 (9, 10) times Row 2: knit Row 3: (ssk, k12) 8(9, 10) times Row 4: knit Row 5: (ssk, k11) 8 (9, 10) times Row 6: knit Row 7: (ssk, k10) 8 (9, 10) times- if you are using DPN's for the decreases, now would be a good time to switch. Using four needles, you should have 30 (30, 30) stitches on needle 1, 30 (30, 45) stitches on needle 2, and 30 (45, 45) stitches on needle 3. Row 8: knit Row 9: (ssk, k9) 8 (9, 10) times Row 10: (ssk, k8) 8 (9, 10) times Row 11: (ssk, k7) 8 (9, 10) times Row 12: (ssk, k6) 8 (9, 10) times Row 13: (ssk, k5) 8 (9, 10) times Row 14: (ssk, k4) 8 (9, 10) times Row 15: (ssk, k3) 8 (9, 10) times Row 16: (ssk, k2) 8 (9, 10) times Row 17: (ssk, k1) 8 (9, 10) times Row 18: ssk 8(9, 10) times Cut yarn, leaving a 6" tail.
