Note\* This pattern includes instructions for a crocheted flower and leaves to embellish the headband. However, it does not include instructions for the knitted flower. There are many wonderful knitted flower patterns on Ravelry, so choose one you like.

Center Section

\*Note The completed headband length is 21". You've completed the Increase Section. Measure the length of this piece from the beginning, and subtract this number from 21. Write down the remainder. Now you will work even over 23 stitches, repeating rows 34 and 35 alternately, until the length of the piece equals the remainder written down earlier. Then begin Decrease Section. Example: On my sample the increase section was 7" long. Therefore, Length of completed headband 21" Length of increase section -7" Work even until piece measures 14"

Decrease Section

CROCHETED FLOWER

Using Size I crochet hook and Chunky weight yarn, chain 4. Round 1: \*1 hdc, ch1: repeat from \* five more times, ending with a slip stitch to the first hdc. Round 2: \* 1 sc in ch-1 space, ch 3; repeat from \* to end of round. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Round 3: \*1 sc in sc, (1 hdc, 1 dc, 3 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc) in ch-3 space; repeat from \* to end of round, then join with a slip stitch to the first dc. Draw yarn through last stitch to fasten off. Break off yarn. Round 4: Join yarn to back of center tr, 1 sc in same space, \* ch 7, sc in back of next tr; repeat from \* to end of round, then join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Round 5: \*(1 hdc, 2 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc, 1 hdc) into each ch-7 space, repeat from \* to end of round. Join with a slip stitch to the first hdc. Draw yarn through last stitch to fasten off. Break yarn, leaving a 12" tail to sew the flower to the headband.

CROCHETED LEAF

Using Size I hook and Chunky weight yarn, chain 9. Sc in second ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Slip st in next ch. Draw yarn through last stitch and fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to headband.
