Pattern: Thick Cables Earwarmer Headband

skills: know how to ch (chain), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet), bpDc (back post double crochet), fpTc (front post triple crochet) hook: K/6.5mm hook yarn: one skein Isaac Mizrahi Craft Carlyle color #IM2008-07 Algonquin (at Michael's Arts & Crafts stores) or other Super Bulky #6 yarn additional materials: two 1" diameter buttons size: any size row 1 (back): ch 12, sc 1 into 2nd ch from hook, dc 4, sc 1, dc 4, sc1; 11 sts made. row 2 (front): ch 1 & turn, sc 1 into same 1st st, skip next 2 sts, fpTc 2, fpTc 2 in front of these into 2 skipped sts (1st crossover), SC 1, skip next 2 sts, fpTc 2, fpTc 2 in front of these into 2 skipped sts (2nd crossover), sc 1; 11 sts made. row 3 (back): ch 1 & turn, sc 1 into same 1st st, bpDc 4, sC 1, bpDc 4, sc 1; 11 sts made. Repeat rows 2 & 3 until the headband is at the length you desire including a \~1" overlap for the button flap; the adult size pictured is 56 rows total. Leaving a \~3" tail, cut yarn, yarn over & pull tail through, pulltight, & weave starting & ending tails into back loops. Attach buttons with yarn to one side of headband so that they are aligned with the spaces between the first & the second row of crossovers on the other end as pictured below (these are our button holes, which have been opened up a bit with my fingers), & tie tight.
