general info

techniques used in this pattern

magic ring (recommended) -single crochet double crochet increase crocheting in the round (rounds are not joined!)

yarn-weight & hook-size and what that means for the figure

For the Hearts you see in this pattern I used Puppets Lyric Yarn (8/8, DK, Light Worsted) and a 3 mm hook. The resulting Hearts' heights: 4 cm (large), 3 cm (small), measured from the hearts bottom tip straight up to the point where between the two rounds. Use lighter yarn and the Hearts will be smaller. Use heavier yarn and they will be taller. Whatever types of yarn you are using: make sure they have the same weight (per Heart).

fasten off & weave in yarn-end(s)

Reference pictures: Note: I recommend weaving in the yarn-end from the beginning while crocheting along. The following steps a) to g) show you how to do that. Of course you can leave it hanging and weave it in later. :) In this case continue on page 8.

Weaving in yarn-end

Pattern illustration

a) To weave in the loose yarnend do it like this: After finishing the magic ring continue with round 2. Guide your crochet hook through the next stitch like usual.

Pattern illustration

b) Now lay the loose yarn-endover the hook (see picture).

Pattern illustration

Pattern illustration

c) Now grab the yarn (not the loose yarn-end) as you usually would and pull it through the stitch. d) Grab the yarn again and finish the stitch.

Pattern illustration

e) Continue like that for the next couple of stitches. Guide your hook through the next stitch, lay the loose yarn-end across/on top of the hook and then finish the stitch.

Pattern illustration

f)In this case I repeated these steps until I was halfway through with the heart's first round.

Pattern illustration

g) Cut off the excess yarn. From here on continue crocheting like usual. And that's one yarn-end less to worry about in the end. :)
