FINISHING
Weave in ends. Work smocking: thread tapestry needle with length of CC. Starting at bottom of band, bring needle up at left side of a knit stitch in the second row of ribbing. \*Move needle to the right and go down through the fabric at the right side of the next knit stitch (making sure to stay in the same row), then Up again through the first hole. Pull yarn tight, gathering knit stitches together, then go down through fabric at right side again. Pull yarn across back side of fabric to the left and come up at the left side of the second knit stitch. Rep from \* to end of round. If you have any embroidery experience, this will seem a little like backstitching. The goal is to bind the knit ribs together in pairs - counting from right to left, bind Rib 1 with Rib 2, Rib 3 with Rib 4, etc. When you reach the end of the round, move up %" and over one rib and repeat the process - this time binding Rib 2 with Rib 3, Rib 4 with Rib 5, and so on, until Rib 38 is bound to Rib 1. Work 3 more rows of smocking, staggering stitches on each subsequent row.
