PURPUR
This pattern is for a simple and quick hat with a slight slouch. It is knit in a worsted weight Wool yarn (or double DK) with an easy-enough colorwork pattern for someone who is not too experienced in stranded knitting. Add a pompom for a nice finish. The hat fits a smaller to medium sized head, for a large head go up a needle size or use a slightly thicker yarn.
ULLCENTRUM
The Swedish company Ullcentrum was established in 1998. It takes care of and produces yarn from Swedish wool that would otherwise be thrown away. The yarn is made from different Swedish sheep breeds, such as the Gotland sheep. The yarn comes in both natural shades and dyed colors. It is also available in several different weights, both spun and unspun and in 1-, 2- and 3-ply. The hat in the photos is knit from 2-ply yarn held double.
MATERIAL
Ullcentrum 2-ply, held double. Gauge 14-15 sts over 10 cm on 5.5 mm needles. Base color: 6/ 2-5121 lavender on white, <100 g Pattern color: 6 / 2-5112 blue purple on grey, <50 g Contrast color: 6/2-0101 white, less than 25 g Circular needle 40 cm 4.5 mm & 5.5 mm and double pointed needles 5.5 mm.
HAT
With contrast color, cast on 84 sts on 4.5 mm needle. Join to work in the round. Change to base color, knit ribbing \*knit 2, purl 2\* for 10 rounds. Change to 5.5 mm needle and continue in stockinette stitch. Increase 1 stitch on the first stockinette round (85 sts). Knit another round in base color, then knit colorwork from chart. When the chart is done, continue with the base color and knit another 16 rounds of stockinette stitch. DLLILAULU - LIuge LU uUuUe pUuLLEu ttuIts wnEn ue wUIn gtID suit! R1: Decrease 5 sts evenly over the round, using K2tog. R2 and all even rounds: Knit. R3: \*K2tog, K6\*, repeat. R5: \*K2tog, K5\*, repeat. Repeat this, reducing the K stitches between the decreases with 1 st per round, until you have 20 sts left on your needles. K one round. On the next round, K2tog all round. Then cut off the yarn with about 20 cm tail left, pull the tail through all stitches and pull the hole shut. Fasten all threads on the inside.
