Heidi Blossom 6 Inch Square
This is an intermediate level pattern written in US Crochet terms.

Materials Needed:
Size 3.75mm hook for the flower Size 4.00mm hook for square Small amounts of 4 colors worsted weight yarn Scissors Tapestry needle Measuring tape
Stitch Legend:
Ch - Chain SC - Single Crochet Sl St - Slip Stitch HDC - Half Double Crochet DC - Double Crochet
Flower
Center: Pattern is worked in a spiral so begin round 2 in first stitch of round 1.
Round 1- With color A, make a magic ring, 6 SC into ring pull closed begin round 2 in 1st SC of round 1 (6 SC) Round 2- 2 SC in each stitch around & S1 St into beginning SC, Ch 1 & fasten off color A. (12 SC)
Petals
ked in rows you will repeat the first petal instructions 3 times for 4 petal
Row 1- With color B join in any stitch with a Sl St, Ch 1, 1 SC in same stitch, 1 SC in next 2 stitches, Ch 1 & turn (3 SC) Row 2- 2 SC in 1"t stitch, 1 SC in next stitch, 2 SC in last stitch Ch 1 & turn (5 SC) Row 3- 1 SC in each Stitch across, Ch 1& turn (5 SC) Row 4- 1 SC in each Stitch across, Ch 2 & turn (5 SC) Row 5 - 1 HDC in same stitch as turning Ch, 1 HDC in next stitch, Sl St in next stitch, 1 HDC in next stitch, 2 HDC in last stitch, Ch 1 rotate and working down side of petal S1 St evenly down to center and into center same as the SC (6 HDC at top of petal) \*Repeat petal instructions beginning in the next stitch with 1 SC for 3 more petals\* At last S1 St of petal 4 \*Ch 4, working behind petal S1 St into last stitch of petal\* repeat 3 times ending in first S1 St, Ch 1 & fasten off color B (4 Ch 4 loops) Blood stains are worked in the round in the Ch 4 loops Round 1 - join color C in any Ch 4 space with a S1 St, [Ch 3, 2 DC, Ch 2, 1 SC into the center S1 St of petal, Ch 2, 3. DC in same space] \*[3 DC, Ch 2, 1 SC into the center of top of petal, 3 DC in next Ch 4 loop]\* repeat 2 times S1 St into top of beginning Ch 3, Ch 1 & fasten off color C (24 DC, 4 SC, 8 Ch 2 loops)
Turning dogwood into a square change to bigger hook
Round 1- with color D, join with a S1 St into any Ch 2 space on right side of the SC, Ch 3 (counts as DC now and throughout) 2 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC in next Ch 2 space, corner made, \* in gap between the DC of petal round, work 3 DC, in next Ch 2 space work 3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC in next Ch 2 space\* repeat 2 times ending in beginning Ch 3 (36 DC, 4 Ch 2 spaces) Round 2- S1 St to corner Ch 2 space, repeat instructions for round 1 working in each gap between the 3 DC clusters & corners as above until your square measures 5.5 inches. Please note your stitch count will increase with each round but the instructions remain the same. You may change color after each round or leave it a solid color. Finishing Round- join B in any corner space with a S1 St [Ch 1 2 SC, Ch 2, 2 SC] corner made, \*1 SC in each stitch along sides, in next Ch 2 corner space [2 SC, Ch 2, 2 SC] corner made, \*Repeat around omitting last corner instructions, Sl St into beginning SC, Ch 1, & fasten off color B. sing tapestry needle, weave in all your ends to secure & clip excess yarn tails.
