Cascade 220 of Debbie Bliss Aran or other Aran weight yarn: 100-150 yards of green for band and leaf 50 yards of pink for flower 16" 4.5mm needle 16" 5mm needle stitch marker wool needle Skills Used: Various increases and decreases, working in the round, sewing Gauge: 18 stitches= 4" in Stocking St using larger needle Measurements: Headband has approx, circumference of 20", stretchable to fit the average woman's head. American Beauty Rose Headband
Inspired by the lush full rose of the same name, the American Beauty Rose Headband is a great alternative for a committed ponytail wearer looking to keep her ears warm. It will make you to think of spring all winter long. A true rose without a thorn!
Instructions:
Headband:Using larger needle, cast-on 86st- Join in round and place marker, being careful not to twist. Work 6 rows in Twisted rib as follows: \*Ktbl, p1\* around. Work 2 inches in Stocking stitch (knit every row). Work 6 rows in Twisted rib again as above. BO in sewn-bind off or other stretchy bind off method.

Bind off last stitch. Rose: Using larger needle, cast-on 46 stitches. Work one set up row: k18, pm , k16, pm, k12 Row 1 (RS): Kfb x 18, sm, (K1, kfb) x 8, sm, (K2, kfb) x 4 (36/24/16 stitches) Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl Row 3: Kfb x 36, sm, (k1, kfb) x 12, sm, (k2, kfb) x 5, k1 (72/36/21 stitches) Row 5: Kfb x 72, sm, (k1, kfb) x 18, sm, (k2, kfb) x 7 (144/54/28 stitches) Row 6: Purl Bind off very loosely. Sew into a swirl, starting with the dense end first. Stitch together, overlapping about % inch as it is sewn in a swirl. Sew flower and leaves to headband using whip stitch.
